    Bass Ale Clone

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a good substitution for Northdown hops as I am trying to make an all grain clone of Bass Ale?

BitterX Powder. Has any one heard of this?

Hi all, I had someone recently ask if we could get in some BitterX powder ... He used to use it when brewing beer but has not been able to find any for years. Does anyone know what it is and where you might get it? Cheers. Rob.

Lallemand/ Danstar London ESB Dry yeast

All reference to this yeast seems to have been removed from the Lallemand / Danstar website. Seems a bit strange.

Lager on tap 3 weeks from brew day

I always thought it was because all the solids drop to the bottom, and by the time you get to say the last 3rd of your keg it is nice and clear.

    Hobart Brewers

Moved to Tasmania around 15 months ago. Living in Glen Huon. It would be cool to make it along to a Hobart Brewers meeting ... might get along to the August meeting if I can.

    Thankyou All Grain Brewing

It feels right that I add my thanks to this forum, even though I have been absent on it for some time. The information from members on these forums and the encouragement from my LHB store at the time got me to switch to all grain brewing several years ago. This evening I have been enjoying my...

    Definition of hop plugs?

I have always used dried hop pellets, but I have seen a few people talking about hop plugs. Is that fresh hops, or full dried hop flowers/cones?

    Beer Literature

Was given "The Breweries of Australia - A History, by Keith M. Deutsher" last year. I found this little article quite quite funny & worth sharing.... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Australian Brewers Journal. Kegging!

That's pretty much the same reason why I got kegs. I bought all the bits & pieces for my keg setup from my LHBS. My setup basically consists of: * 2 cornie style kegs with ball lock posts * 1 tap * beer line * 1 beer post connector * gas line * 1 gas post connector * 1 gas line to threaded nut...

Chokos / Chayotes ... Can You Ferment Them?

Yep, by the sounds of that then, cook em, or feed em to the chooks/pigs, but trying to turn them into an alcoholic beverage seems like something you'd only try if you were desperate. Thanks for the replies :)

Chokos / Chayotes ... Can You Ferment Them?

As so many friends have had an abundance of Chokos to give away this season, it got me wondering ... can you make Choco cider, or Choko wine, ... or distill it's fermented juices to a spirit? I have done a brief search and have only found a few vague references to Choko wine ... as I am...

    Single Post Keg

Looks like a standard ball lock post - does that mean you have to gas it up, then disconnect the gas, and then connect the beer line ... then when the pressure drops too low for a decent pour do it again? Does it open up anywhere... if not, then I imagine that you are going to need another tube...

Thermometer Brew! The Thing Broke During The Boil!

I don't know what sort of alcohol it is that they use in the thermometers ... but not all types of alcohol are safe to drink. So if you decided to keep it and it is in the fermenter, just weigh up the possibilities.... a few hours of your time and a few dollars wasted, verses, an unknown...
